LOTTERY players in Illinois are being urged to check their pockets and wallets for any missing tickets as at least 10 prizes totaling nearly $7 million still remain unclaimed.

The prizes are from drawings as early as April 20, 2023 and as recent as Wednesday.

Illinois lottery officials have said there are 10 unclaimed tickets across the state that still have yet to be claimed, leaving the prize money up for grabs.

The winning tickets stretch across three games, Lucky Day Lotto, Mega Millions, and Powerball

They were also purchased at gas stations and other businesses all throughout the state, including in Chicago, Lansing, Princeton, and Loves Park.

Combined, the sitting prize money totals to around $5,800,000.

It is important to note that the $225,000 prize from the April 20 drawing and the $450,000 prize from the June 26 drawing will both expire within the first six months of 2024.

Winners can claim their prize money in several different ways including through e-Claim, by mail, at retail, or at a claim center.

Unlike many states, winners in Illinois can request to remain anonymous if their prize money is $250,000 or greater.

However, this request must be indicated on the Illinois Lottery Winner Claim Form, otherwise the state does routinely publish winter information, including names and the specific amount won, lottery officials say

It is also important to remember all Illinois lottery prizes will be taxed.

State lottery officials recommend all players and winners contact a financial player or tax attorney if they win.
